Special issues info

The journal Community Notebooks. People, Education and Welfare in Society 5.0 occasionally publishes a selection of international conference proceedings and special/thematic issues. The aim of such editions is to highlight/produce collections of articles on a particular topic to enable the generation of theoretical and empirical scientific knowledge on issues deemed socially and scientifically relevant.

Proposals for such special issues must be sent to the Scientific Director, who may ask for revisions or proposed changes based on comments and suggestions from the Editorial Board. In discussing proposals, the Editorial Board will consider the journal's editorial policy, the scientific relevance of the proposed topic, the expected content of the manuscripts, and the clarity and quality of the proposal.

Each special issue may be sponsored by one to four editors responsible for the work. It is recommended that authors and/or co-authors from the same institution represent no more than one third of all authors.

Role of the Curators

The proposing curators are invited, when designing thematic sections, to pursue a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to the subject, to include theoretical and empirical works, authors from different countries and institutions. The curator's responsibilities are:

  • the promotion of the call through its channels
  • inviting potential authors relevant to the topic to collaborate on the call
  • meeting deadlines
  • centralising communication with authors, referees and editors
  • the timeliness of responses
  • management/supervision of all revision work
  • identification of trusted referees
  • revision of all submitted documents ensuring compliance with editorial standards
  • the preparation of the preliminary editing of the special issue according to editorial standards.

Contributions are collected via the journal's Editorial Board web platform. The editor/curators will be assigned the role of Journal Editor to manage the entire process. For more information: Click here to download the Journal Editor Guidelines

After accepting the proposal for the thematic issue, the editorial board publishes a call for submissions on the journal's website in cooperation with the guest editors. Contributions for these special issues are collected either by public call, open to all, or by direct invitation from the proposers.

All contributions received for the thematic issue are subject to the usual anonymous double review procedure. The invitation to submit a paper for a special/thematic section does not imply automatic acceptance for publication. The review process may lead to the exclusion of some contributions and the request for resubmission. After completion of the review process, the final decision on acceptance or rejection of manuscripts is made by the Scientific Director, in consultation with the Editorial Board.

The thematic/special sections contain a maximum of 10 articles and are introduced by the editorial written by the editor, i.e. a brief overview of the importance and purpose of the thematic section and a summary of the articles included.
