The Covid-19 emergency may represent an opportunity for the public communication of science. Tracing the evolution of science communication, the contribution shows the contrasts in the relationship between science and society by identifying Responsible Innovation Research (2013) as a potential frame for the implementation, education and promotion of scientific knowledge. In order to foster, through the use of sustainable and shared tools and strategic approaches, citizen engagement, an operational suggestion is provided.
