Call for Paper and Submission. Year 5 No. 3/December, 2025
Inclusive Education: Strategies, Perspectives, Innovation, Practices
Inclusive education aims to provide equitable educational opportunities for all students, regardless of their individual characteristics, abilities, or circumstances. This concept emphasizes the value of diversity and the importance of fostering an environment where every student is respected and can participate fully. This thematic issue explores the various dimensions of inclusive education, examining both the theoretical frameworks and practical implementations that support this essential aspect of modern education systems.
One critical aspect in this field is understanding the difference between "integration" and "inclusion." While often used interchangeably, these terms represent distinct approaches to educating students with diverse needs. Integration typically refers to the process of placing students with special educational needs into mainstream classrooms, often with minimal changes to the existing educational structure. This approach can sometimes lead to a superficial inclusion, where the physical presence of students in the classroom does not necessarily equate to their active participation and engagement in the educational process.
In contrast, inclusion is a more holistic approach that seeks to adapt the educational environment to meet the diverse needs of all students. This involves not only physical access but also the creation of a supportive and flexible learning environment that accommodates different learning styles and abilities. Inclusion emphasizes the importance of individualizing education to ensure that all students, including those with disabilities, language barriers, or other challenges, may succeed and thrive academically and socially.
Effective evaluation is crucial for promoting true inclusivity within educational systems. It involves not only assessing the presence of inclusive policies but also measuring their impact on student outcomes, including academic achievement, social integration, and overall well-being. The distinction between integration and inclusion reflects deeper philosophical and practical commitments. While integration may imply an expectation for students to adapt to the prevailing norms, inclusion is rooted in equity, acknowledging the inherent value of each student and striving to create an educational setting that respects and nurtures diversity.
The special issue will also delve into the technological and digital innovations transforming inclusive education. Society 5.0, with its focus on integrating advanced technology into daily life, offers unprecedented tools and resources to support personalized learning. Technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and assistive communication tools can be powerful allies in making education more inclusive and accessible.
Beyond theoretical and technological aspects, the issue will feature practical insights and field experiences. It will present case studies and successful projects that have implemented inclusive strategies across various educational contexts, from primary to higher education. These cases will provide valuable insights into how schools can address common challenges such as resource shortages, teacher training, and resistance to change.
Ultimately, "Inclusive Education: Strategies, Perspectives, Innovation, Practices" aims to be a resource for educators, researchers, policymakers, and all those involved in education at different levels. It seeks to promote a deeper understanding of inclusion as a guiding principle for building a more equitable and cohesive society, where every individual, regardless of personal characteristics, can find their space to grow and contribute.
